Taking Screenshots Guide
« on: February 07, 2011, 12:44:04 am »
Ive seen quite a few posts on forums asking this: How do I take a screenshot and then post on forums :o? Well in this guide I shall show you how to in an easy-to-understand guide :D

NOTE: I have a Windows, not a Mac, so I only know how to make screenies with Windows, if someone with a Mac knows how just post how to in a reply on here and ill add it. thanks :P

KEYBOARD: On standard Windows keyboards you should see a "prt scr" button between the numbers section and letters and symbols section at the top. Pushing this button "saves" a copy of exactly what you see on your screen the moment you push that button :P heres a picture-

EDITING

Next thing you need to do is open a photo editing program. I use Paint, but Fireworks, Photshop*, etc work pretty much the same. Go to "edit" at the top of the screen, click it, then click "paste" you should see your screenshot that you took. If you dont, try re-taking the screenshot. Next, if you are going to edit it, do so now. Next, go to "file" and click "save as" type in the desired name for the file and designate were you would like it to go, then click "save".

UPLOADING AND POSTING

For this, I suggest using Tinypic.com, link is http://tinypic.com/. Click "browse" then find your file and double click it. Then click "Upload Now"(almost all image hosting sites are the same) enter the code and Voila~! it will upload. Wait a few minutes(might take longer depending on how many people are uploading and computer speed) then look for "forums or message board code" and copy it. Then simply paste into your message and your picture should show up!

LINKS FOR IMAGE EDITING PROGRAMS

Fireworks:http://www.adobe.com/products/fireworks/

Photoshop:http://www.photoshop.com/

These you DO have to pay for, but they both have free trials..if you want free image editing programs just google them. Paint(what i use) should come already downloaded on Windows systems.

Rate out of 10 please and thanks for reading this, hope it helped =D

The guide? No, since a lot of people do NOT know how to take screenshots and upload them onto the forums, So I simply made a guide on it while I was bored when the server was down ^^

^ Thats right, on this forums you cant upload straight from your computer, at least not a way that I know of. Use Tinypic, Photobucket, etc etc..

It doesnt create a link, it simply streams the picture into your post. Though some do have the links instead.
