Hmm judging from what your doing, Id have to guess that Skal would mean "Cheers!" or perhaps something along those lines. Maybe sort of like "Itadikimsu(something like that o.o)" which is pretty much thanks for the food ^^ So maybe its a sort of blessing like how some people say grace before dinner .
